Our Vacancy
Team Manager – Mental Health Services (Hackney)
Full-time | Permanent | Based across three services in Hackney
At Peabody, we’re here for people who need a bit of extra help to live well and independently. Our supported housing services offer not just a place to live, but a platform to thrive — especially for people who’ve been pushed to the margins due to mental health issues, homelessness, or complex needs.
We’re looking for a values-driven and compassionate Team Manager to lead three supported housing services in Hackney. You’ll guide and support a team of dedicated support workers, making sure they have the tools, confidence, and backing to do their very best work. You’ll model good practice, champion recovery, and help us build services where people feel heard, respected, and empowered.
This isn’t a desk-bound role. It’s people-first, purpose-led and packed with chances to make an impact — for your team, our customers and the wider community.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading and developing a team of support workers who deliver person-centred, trauma-informed support
- Supporting customers to build independence, confidence and community connection
- Holding responsibility for assessments, reviews, safeguarding, service standards and compliance
- Coaching your team to navigate complexity with skill and care — especially where mental health, risk and recovery intersect
- Building trusted relationships with partners and community services
- Keeping performance on track through supervision, reflective practice and gentle challenge
You’ll be great at this job if:
- You believe in people and their potential — even when life’s been tough
- You’ve led teams in supported housing or similar settings, especially around mental health
- You understand what good, safe, recovery-focused support looks like — and how to deliver it through others
- You know how to balance kindness with boundaries, and compassion with accountability
- You’re confident working with risk, safeguarding, budgets and KPIs — but always keep the human side in mind
You’ll get to be part of a values-based organisation that’s genuinely committed to inclusion, learning and working together to do the right thing.
We’re kind. We pull together. We keep our promises. We celebrate diversity. We love new ideas. And we always aim to do the right thing, especially when it’s hard.
Why join us?
We offer:
25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
Flexible benefits package (healthcare, dental, discounts).
4x Life Assurance.
Professional development opportunities (apprenticeships & qualifications).
Two additional paid volunteering days.
Family-friendly policies & up to 10% pension contribution (matched 1:1).
