Our Vacancy

Investigation Officer – Neighbourhoods (Tenancy Fraud)

North- East Region (Hackney, Tower Hamlets & Islington)

Make a real impact where it matters most

This is not your typical desk-based role. As our Investigation Officer, you’ll lead on tackling tenancy fraud across a high-profile and complex region, helping protect homes for those who need them most.

Part of a specialist team of four, you’ll act as the fraud lead for your region, building strong partnerships, influencing decisions and delivering meaningful outcomes for our communities.

What you’ll be doing

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You could be:

  • Visiting properties, gathering evidence and conducting interviews
  • Preparing legal cases or attending court
  • Delivering presentations and advising colleagues

You’ll:

  • Lead tenancy fraud investigations from start to finish
  • Work closely with Local Authorities across Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Islington
  • Partner with Neighbourhoods, Lettings and Legal teams
  • Provide expert advice and influence decision-making
  • Build strong, trusted relationships internally and externally

This is a hybrid role, but requires regular travel, including property visits often outside of standard office and court attendance.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in housing and/or fraud investigations
  • Strong knowledge of tenancy fraud, housing law and data protection
  • Confidence to lead, influence and present
  • Strong IT skills, including CRM systems

This is a challenging role requiring you to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and influence a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll bring strong analytical skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to build trusted relationships across partners, managing complex situations with professionalism and confidence.

You’ll be:

  • Calm, resilient and professional
  • Highly organised with sound judgement
  • Comfortable working in the field and attending court
  • A strong collaborator and relationship builder

Qualifications

  • Counter Fraud qualification (e.g. ACFS/PINS), or willingness to work towards one

  • 2 paid volunteering days
  • Flexible benefits (health, dental and more)
